Amino acid L-Proline mimics class I aldolase enzyme to drive the aldol reaction through enamine-based mechanism. The use of catalyst L-Proline is the first example of amine-based asymmetric class I aldolase mimics. In the first part of this project, weexplored the direct asymmetric aldol reaction between acetone and 4-nitrobenzaldehyde in the presence of 30 mol % of L-proline.The reaction was set at room temperature under normal condition, and we got 2 products: aldol and \u03B1,\u03B2-unsaturated ketone product. Detail characterization of the two products was done using TLC, Column Chromatography, NMR and IR. The percent yield of asymmetric aldol product was 70% which is comparable to the published value of 68%. The yield of \u03B1,\u03B2-unsaturated ketone was10.5%. Further in the project, we explored the same aldol reaction using p-Anisaldehyde in place of 4-nitrobenzaldehyde. Only one product was obtained, and the exclusive product was \u03B1,\u03B2-unsaturated ketone instead of the expected asymmetric aldol product" ] } }, { "label": { "en": [ "Publication Date" ] }, "value": { "none": [ "2014 December 8" ] } }, { "label": { "en": [ "Hierarchical Spatial" ] }, "value": { "none": [ "New Jersey -- Edison" ] } }, { "label": { "en": [ "Holding Location" ] }, "value": { "none": [ "Middlesex County College Institution" ] } }, { "label": { "en": [ "Permanent Link" ] }, "value": { "none": [ "http://middlesexcc.sobeklibrary.com/AA00002431/00001" ] } }, { "label": { "en": [ "Creator" ] }, "value": { "none": [ "Tran, Tram", "Ghosh, Phalguni", "Middlesex College, Department of Natural Sciences" ] } }, { "label": { "en": [ "Publisher" ] }, "value": { "none": [ "Middlesex College" ] } }, { "label": { "en": [ "Place of Publication" ] }, "value": { "none": [ "Edison, NJ" ] } }, { "label": { "en": [ "Type" ] }, "value": { "none": [ "Mixed Material" ] } }, { "label": { "en": [ "Source Institution" ] }, "value": { "none": [ "Middlesex County College Institution" ] } }, { "label": { "en": [ "Subjects / Keywords" ] }, "value": { "none": [ "College students -- poster presentations", "Student Works -- Natural Sciences -- poster presentations", "Chemistry", "Student works -- Natural Sciences -- academic theses", "Middlesex College (Edison, NJ) -- Student works", "Middlesex County College (Edison, NJ)" ] } }, { "label": { "en": [ "Temporal Coverage" ] }, "value": { "none": [ "Academic Year 2014-2015 ( 2014 - 2015 )" ] } }, { "label": { "en": [ "Title" ] }, "value": { "none": [ "The Use of Amino Acid L-Prolineas Catalyst forDirect Asymmetric Aldol Reactions" ] } }, { "label": { "en": [ "Series Title" ] }, "value": { "none": [ "Student Symposium 2014" ] } }, { "label": { "en": [ "Format" ] }, "value": { "none": [ "Mixed Material" ] } }, { "label": { "en": [ "Digital Resource Creation Date" ] }, "value": { "none": [ "6/22/2021" ] } } ], "service": [ { "@context": "http://iiif.io/api/search/2/context.json", "id": "https://digital.middlesexcollege.edu/iiif/manifest/AA00002431/00001/search", "type": "SearchService2", "profile": "http://iiif.io/api/search/2/search" } ], "seeAlso": [ { "id": "https://digital.middlesexcc.edu/content/AA/00/00/24/31/00001/AA00002431_00001.mets.xml", "type": "Dataset", "format": "application/mets\u002Bxml", "label": { "en": "METS" } }, { "id": "https://digital.middlesexcc.edu/content/AA/00/00/24/31/00001/marc.xml", "type": "Dataset", "format": "application/marcxml\u002Bxml", "label": { "en": "MARCXML" } } ], "items": [] }
