She got into theatre when she was a teenager, and stage management when she was a bit older. She eventually began working with the Abbey Theatre. In 1999 she went to the Lincoln Center Festival working as a stage manager with Abbey Theatre. There, she met Crew Chief Jason. They knew there was a spark, so when she went back to Ireland, they did long distance. In November of 2000, Colette moved to NYC on a k1 visa, and they got married January. They lived in NYC until 2006, after the birth of their second child.
