The foundation moved to New Brunswick, New Jersey, in 1959. In 1974, the AHF dropped the word \u201Cstudies\u201D from its official name. The AHF opened its Hungarian Heritage Center in New Brunswick in 1989. \n\nThe AHF collects, conserves, and celebrates the contributions, traditions, stories, history, heritage, and culture of American Hungarians to the American way of life since 1776. A symbol of Hungary in America, the building, designed by architect L\u00E1szl\u00F3 Papp, includes a museum, library, and archives. \n\nA special focus of the archives is documentation of the refugees who arrived through Camp Kilmer in 1956, an important chapter deeply tied to the local community.
